About Nickent:
Nickent may not be a household name in golf equipment -- at least not yet. That may soon change. Nickent's strategy has been to pursue endorsement deals with young guys out on the Nationwide (minor league) tour. The idea is that many of them will one day make it to the big leagues (PGA Tour) and when they do, they will pull up the name notoriety of their brand as the players rise in popularity. So if you watch any of the Nationwide tour events, you know the Nickent name already. If not, the name "Nickent" may be new to you. But their technology is solid and proven. Nickent has been especially strong in the utility club or hybrid club market for several years. Their foray into the square headed driver is a sign of their progressive attitude.

Nickent 3DX Square Driver Review

Square drivers are all the rage and Nickent has quietly jumped the square headed driver race with what may be the best square driver on the market. One of the best features of the Nickent 3DX driver is the price. Value priced at $199 (as low as $99.98 at TGW) , the 3DX rings up $300 less than Callaway's FT-i and $200 less than Nike's Sumo Squared driver, and $100 less than the Adams Insight XTD. The best thing, though, is that for many players, the 3DX Square driver outperforms them all.

Although Nickent Golf is better known for their innovations in the utility club category, their engineers have done a fantastic job with the square design of the 3DX driver. Better players can reap the benefits of Nickent's proven Total Accuracy Control technology in the Tour model, while less skilled players can still benefit from the high MOI of the standard model. The geometry of the 3DX allows more weight to be pushed to the extreme edges of the club, stabilizing the club at impact and reducing clubhead twisting significantly. This means more power is delivered to the golf ball at impact resulting in long drives that still find the fairway most of the time.

The Nickent 3DX Goes Longer than most Square drivers

One of the main reasons Nickent has been successful with the square design is because they were able to make the ball go straight while not sacrificing distance. The 3DX Tour Square is going further because the ball does not balloon. Tests on many of the square drivers have shown significantly more backspin than some of the more traditional drivers. While that can keep the ball straighter, you also lose some distance. Extra backspin can also produce the balloon shot on a mis-hit or when hit into a headwind. The 3DX reduces backspin, thereby eliminating the balloon shot, and adding more distance and carry to every drive, not just those well-struck.

The 3DX Driver has a Nice Visual Setup

The 3DX Square driver is more appealing to the player's eye because it has slightly more face progression than traditional drivers. The addition of contrasting sliver polygons on the back outside edges give a kind of funnel shaped appearance to the top of the club at address. This visually enhances the size of the face, giving you more confidence on your swing that you will indeed hit the sweet spot. This progressive visual cue also aids in alignment and helps to keep the club face square during the back swing takeaway.

The 3DX Tour Square Helps the More Accomplished Golfer

The Tour version of the Nickent 3DX square driver series is designed to help better golfers with their game. The face angle of the Tour Square design is square, which, combined with the bulge and roll, produces a lower more penetrating ball flight than other square drivers. Better players have often complained that square drivers hit the ball too high. If that's you, the 3DX Tour Square could change your mind in a hurry. Even with it's penetrating ball flight, the 3DX is still straight and workable at the same time.

Like any of the new square drivers, the Nickent 3DX square driver will not fix your swing -- but it will make the most out of your present swing and give you better results, meaning longer, straighter drives that help you get to the green with shorter irons. That can only increase your confidence and that will.

How Average Golfers rate the 3DX

The biggest thing about drivers is not how well the companies can develop new technology - but how that technology works on real people's golf swings. Most people who have tried the Nickent 3DX or 3DX Tour square drivers have had nothing but rave reviews. One golfer said, "This is the best driver ever! I am a high handicap golfer and the Nickent 3DX square driver gave me 40-60 yards extra on my drive. The price was fantastic as well great value. I highly recommend this driver to anyone looking to lower their score."

Another low handicap golfer who tried the Tour model had this to say: "I really love the Nickent 3DX Tour Square Driver and the price was unbelievable. I purchased a Taylor Made R7 last summer but wasn't happy with the distance I was getting with it. I tried the SQ Sumo2 5900 and the Callaway FT-i, but the prices were out of my range and weren't worth the distances hit. I had been averaging about 250 yards with my r7 10.5 degree driver, but now with my 3DX Tour Square driver with 10.5 degree and stiff shaft I'm averaging 275-280 yards! And the best thing -- they have all been straight in play. I highly recommend this driver if you have been thinking of trying the new square head design. This club is definitely worth the price. "

Discount 3DX options

The Nickent 3DX driver is a value-priced driver. While significantly less expensive than the Callaway FT-i or Nike Sumo2, it is still a significant investment at $199. If money is not an object, a new model is always best. I would suggest the Tour model unless you are an absolute beginner or a really high handicapper. The best thing about buying new is that you can choose the loft and shaft to best match your swing type. If money is a big issue, you may be able to find certified pre-owned 3DX drivers at several golf outlets. These clubs are either demos or trade-ins and have been inspected, tested and graded by professionals. You can often save close to a hundred dollars purchasing a used square driver this way.

If you are familiar with using eBay, you can often get some really great deals on golf equipment in their online auctions. Selections constantly change as new clubs become available. Note that some people sell new clubs on eBay too, so be sure to check out what you are bidding on if you go this route.

The other option is to try one of the less expensive clone models listed below. I personally use the The GX Squared Ti 460 from GigaGolf. Although it isn't quite as long as the 3DX, it was $100 cheaper and that kept my wife happy (always an important consideration for you married guys).
